Air Force Falls At San José State

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. – Air Force men's basketball (12-9, 3-5 MW) dropped a 82-52 contest at San José State (13-8, 4-4 MW) in a Mountain West game Tuesday night at Provident Credit Union Event Center at SJSU. Senior guard Camden Vander Zwaag led the Falcons with 11 points.
San José State shot 57 percent from the field, scoring 52 points in the paint to roll to the win. Guard Omari Moore led the Spartans with 26 points. Robert Vaihola added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
San José State took a 46-31 halftime lead by shooting 68 percent from the field in the opening half. The Spartans were able to score inside, holding a 30-8 advantage in points in the paint. Moore went off of 19 first-half points for SJSU.
The Falcons could not get much going in the second half, scoring 21 points. For the game, Air Force shot 39 percent from the field.
Vander Zwaag was 4 of 7 from the field in 19 minutes off the bench. Jake Heidbreder followed with nine points and Rytis Petraitis added eight. Petraitis added three assists. Beau Becker led the Falcons with four rebounds. Corbin Green blocked two shots to give him 32 for the season, moving him into a tie for fourth-most in a season at Air Force.
The Falcons shot the ball well from the free-throw line, going 10 for 11, good for a 91 percent mark. Air Force also blocked seven shots on the night.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Jan. 27, at #25/RV New Mexico. Tip time is 8 pm MT and the game will be broadcast by CBS Sports Network.
