Late score lifts Falcons over Spartans
10/22/2023 3:33:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Following a Spartans penalty kick score in the 34th minute, Peyton Ferrell produced the equalizer for the Falcons 25 minutes later. Air Force was rewarded for its constant pressure in front of goal, as a clever pass from Mia Otero set up Ferrell right in front of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
The goal was Ferrell's second of the season, while the assist gives Otero 14 points this season, leading the team.
With the match tied late, Kendall Rippley supplied her first-career goal with just over three minutes left in the match to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead. Lauren Mirande was responsible for her first-career assist as a result of the goal.
Air Force was able to ride out the remainder of the match to snap a four-match winless streak.
The Falcons were relentless with possession for the entirety of the afternoon, producing 24 shots to tie their season-high. Conversely, Air Force allowed just five shots on goal to 10 total attempts.
Next, Air Force will close the regular season against Colorado College in the City for Champions Cup at Weidner Field. The match is scheduled for Thursday, October 26 with kickoff slated for 6:00 pm MT.
