UNLV, which will host New Mexico on Thursday night, enters the week with an 11-5 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Rebels are coming off a split road weekend that included a 3-2 win over Wyoming and an 0-3 loss to Colorado State. UNLV leads the conference in hitting during MW matches (.274), while Isabel Martin is ranked second in points with a 5.00 per-set average.
BY THE NUMBERS
San Diego State holds a 40-9 advantage over the Falcons in the all-time series, with just one of Air Force's wins coming at Peterson Gym. Backed by seven-straight wins, UNLV is 46-5 all-time against Air Force and, like the Aztecs, have only dropped one contest to the Falcons on their home court.
AIR FORCE IN THE CONFERENCE
The Falcons lead the Mountain West in kills (13.65 kps) after two weeks of conference play, while Caroline Reinkensmeyer is the current MW leader in assists with a 9.88 per-set average. Backed by three of the eight-most accurate attackers in the conference – Joi Harvey (.426, second), Mac Russ (.392, third), Aaryn Scires (,317, eighth), the Falcons are ranked second in team hitting with a .265 average. A full list of Falcons in the conference rankings can be found on Page 3 of this release.
HOME SWEET HOME
A pair of Falcons will be playing in their backyards this weekend during Air Force's trip to San Diego State and UNLV. Savanah Johnson grew up just outside San Diego in Chula Vista, while Annamaria Ramos hails from the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson.
FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
The 11-4 start is tied for the program's best 15-match start to a season at the Division I level, matching the 1999 and 2018 teams that also posted that mark during the first half of the season. In Mountain West action, the 3-1 start is tied with the 2014 team for the best four-match conference start at the DI level.
GETTING A HAND IN
With her seventh assisted block of the day in the Falcons' victory over Utah State on Sept 30, Joi Harvey matched Summer Koons (1996-99) for the Air Force Division I Record for assisted stops in a career (282).
SEPTEMBER SONG
