Air Force Drops 65-57 Contest At Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 65-57 contest at Delaware (3-0) Sunday afternoon at Bob Carpenter Center. Junior guard Ethan Taylor scored 24 points to lead the Falcons, who dropped to 1-2 on the season.
Delaware jumped ahead 12-2 early on, as the Falcons struggled to get their offense going. The Falcons managed to get the game down to six with 2:46 to play after a three by Taylor and basket by Kellan Boylan that made the score 23-17.
Delaware was able to close the half on a 6-2 run on a pair of three's to jump ahead 29-19 at the half.
Air Force came out the second half making 8 of its first 9 shots to rally. They took the lead at the 11 minute mark on a three from Taylor, making it 44-43 Falcons with 11:04 to play. Air Force shot 65 percent from the field in the second half.
The teams then battled to six lead changes before Delaware made a late push. Air Force led 50-48 with 8:11 to play, but Delaware closed the game out with a 17-7 burst to pull away.
Taylor tied his career-high of 24 points, for his second-straight game over 20 points. The junior made eight field goals and four three's on the day. He added four rebounds and three assists.
Junior forward Beau Becker was the other Falcon in double digits scoring with 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Sophomore guard/forward Kellan Boylan added six points and a team-high five rebounds. Junior guard Jeffrey Mills tied a career-high with a pair of three's and led the Falcons with four assists. Junior guard Byron Brown led the reserves with seven points.
Forward Jyare Davis led Delaware with 21 points and seven rebounds.
Air Force had five blocked shots on the day, with junior guard/forward Chase Beasley recording two.
Air Force returns to action as the host of the Air Force Classic, which runs Thurs.-Sun., Nov. 16-19. The Falcons open Thursday, Nov. 16, hosting Lindenwood.
