
Air Force finished second in West Virginia

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team, ranked fifth in the nation, placed second at the West Virginia Fall Classic, Sunday, Nov. 12, in Morgantown, W.V.
Top-ranked West Virginia won the quad meet with a team score of 4741. Air Force was second at 4709, followed by fourth-ranked Nebraska (4700) and 11th-ranked Murray State (4692).
Junior Lauren Hurley placed fifth in aggregate with an 1181. Hurley, who qualified for the finals in smallbore on Saturday, also qualified for the finals in air rifle on day two with a fifth-place finish (595). In the finals, Hurley moved up to third place behind two WVU shooters. Peninah D'Souza shot an 1179 in air rifle, followed by Scott Rockett and Morgan Kreb (592), Victoria Leppert and Dante Aletto (586) and Elijah Butler (571).
Air Force returns to action by hosting a dual meet against Alaska-Fairbanks, Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range.
