Falcons Claim Air Force Classic Title With 58-56 Win Over Omaha

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (4-2) battled its way to an 58-56 win over Omaha (2-4) Sunday afternoon at the Air Force Classic at Clune Arena. The Falcons won the tournament by going 3-0 in the four-day multi-team event.
The Falcons withstood a late Omaha charge to come away with the win. The Falcons led by 10 points with 5:03 to play before the Mavericks rallied with a 13-3 run to tie the game up at 56-56 with 44 seconds to play.
Corbin Green then hit the go-ahead bucket on a layup in traffic to put the Falcons ahead 58-56 with 15 seconds left in regulation. The Falcons then played stifling defense on Omaha to force a wayward shot to end the game and get the win.
Ethan Taylor led the Falcons with 16 points and three assists. Taylor was named the Air Force Classic MVP after averaging 20.3 points for the Falcons over the three tournament games.
Sophomores Kellan Boylan and Corbin Green joined Taylor in double figures. Boylan scored a career-high 13 points, to go with six rebounds. Green just missed a double-double with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Air Force again played solid defense, holding Omaha to 35 percent shooting on the day. Forward Nick Davis led the Mavericks with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
The Falcons shot 43 percent from the field and made seven three's.
Air Force also had two players made the All-Tournament squad. Juniors Beau Becker and Jeffrey Mills earned all-tournament honors. Becker averaged 16.7 points in the tournament and Mills averaged 11 points.
The Falcons return to action Wednesday, Nov. 22, hosting VMI. The game tips at 3 pm MT.
