LAST TIME THEY MET
Sund and Hendrickson were the only Falcons to put up points against the powerhouse Tigers. Sund was the first to put points on the board with a 3-2 decision win over Mizzou's Jesse Cassatt. Hendrickson followed up with a pin in 58 seconds against a scrappy Cole Gripka.
Mizzou outscored Air Force 36-9 on the team scorecard, posting bonus point wins in the first four bouts and in seven bouts total. The stacked Tigers recorded three major decisions, three technical falls, a pin and a decision in the 10-bout dual. Jack Ganos did his part in denying No. 11 Jarrett Jacques bonus points in the 157 class.
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons won three weight classes but fell to No. 21 West Virginia in Big 12 dual action, 27-11, Friday evening in Clune Arena. Falcon sophomore Brenden Barnes was the first to put points up for Air Force, besting Davin Rhoads, 5-3, with a convincing performance in the 133 division.
WVU rattled off wins from 141 to 174 as five-straight ranked wrestlers outscored the Falcons in their respective divisions. No. 28 Ty Watters put up six points via pin in the 149 class while teammates No. 28 Caleb Dowling, No. 12 Peyton Hall, and No. 29 Brody Conley scored three straight major decision wins at 157, 165, and 174, respectively.
The Falcons got back in the win column behind No. 8 Sam Wolf who dictated the pace for seven minutes, outscoring No. 24 Dennis Robin, 6-1. Wolf is 8-2 on the season so far. At 197, Calvin Sund was a half-second away from victory but takedown in the last second was called off— Sund dropped the match, 4-2, to No. 28 Austin Cooley.
In the final bout of the night, senior All-American No. 2 Wyatt Hendrickson performed as expected, scoring an immediate takedown followed up with three-straight four-point near fall tilts, posting a 15-0 technical fall over No. 23 Michael Wolfgram in just 80 seconds.
