Air Force Defeats Idaho, 4-3

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis defeated Idaho 4-3 in non-conference action Thursday night at the Indoor Tennis Courts in Cadet Gym. The win lifted the Falcons to 9-1 on the season.

The Falcons opened by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles. Phillip Deaton and Arjun Kersten won at No. 2 over Casino/Asenov 6-2. After Idaho won at No. 3 doubles, Nick Vroman and Justin Waldman won at No. 1 over Masala/Bascon 6-2 to clinch the point.

In singles, the Falcons clinched the match after four singles matches, leading 4-1 at that point.

The Vandals tied the match up with a win at No. 1 singles. The Falcons then won the next three matches. Waldman won at No. 3 over Bruno Casino, 6-1, 7-5, to put Air Force back ahead. Kersten then won at No. 2 over Francisco Gay 6-3, 7-6 (12-10). Deaton then clinched at No. 4 over Matteo Masala 6-2, 6-7 (7-4), 7-5.

Air Force returns to action Saturday, March 4, hosting Chicago State. The match begins at noon MT.
