Trayden Tamiya finished the day 2-4 with a career-high 4 RBI. The senior lined a two-run single into left in the 1st before another two-run knock in the 4th. Landon Boyd also drove in four runs, going 2-4. The Air Force backstop sent a two-run single through the right side in the 1st, while also doubling home two runs the 4th.
Sam Kulasingam extended his on-base streak to an even 30 games as the result of his 1-1 day. Kulasingam reached base in all four of his plate appearances, walking twice and having been on the receiving end of a hit-by-pitch. The Falcons first baseman produced a two-run single in his only official at-bat.
Jay Thomason was 1-1 as well while inducing three walks. Thomason singled home a run as part of an eight-run 4th.
Charlie Jones entered the game in the 6th and blasted his second home run of the season, needing just one pitch in his initial at-bat. Jones's solo shot was clocked at 110 mph and measured at 432 feet. Jake Greiving was a 1-5, though his one hit was an RBI double in the 4th. Greiving also brought home the first Falcons run of the day with an RBI groundout.
Chris Stallings got the start in right field and finished the day 1-2 with an RBI single in the 1st. The junior will likely be in need of some ice, as Stallings was plunked three times in his six plate appearances. Matt Thompson was 1-3 with a sacrifice fly.
Air Force drew 13 walks while also having been hit by seven pitches, both season-highs.
Ben Weber opened the game for the Falcons and gave his dugout exactly what was needed. Weber pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and a walk. Six of the freshman's 12 outs came via the groundball.
Seungmin Shim picked up his fourth win of the year after entering in relief of Weber. Shim tossed 2.0 scoreless frames, surrendering just two hits with three strikeouts. Cooper Loveridge, Joey Collier, Jaxson Crump, and Chase Spencer each took the mound for an inning. Crump's appearance in the 8th was the first of his collegiate career.
After building a big lead, Coach Kaz was able to find some playing time for the freshman. Tripp Garrish worked a walk in his first Air Force at-bat in the 7th, while Ben Niednagel recorded his first-career hit in the 8th.
Next, Air Force will travel to Reno to play Nevada for a three-game Mountain West series, starting Friday, April 14.
*STAT CORRECTION (April 11)
After consultation with the Air Force coaching staff, the win credited to the pitcher has been changed from Seungmin Shim to Ben Weber. Weber's start was a predetermined limited outing, allowing Weber to receive his first-career victory on the mound.
