Air Force Fencing Completes Competition At USA Fencing Div. I Championships

Air Force fencing completed competition at the 2023 Div. I Championships/April North American Cup, which ran April 21-24, at the America's Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Mo.
The Falcons had six competitors combine for four Top-40 finishes. Senior Matthew Han and freshman Mira Vestel led the way with three combined Top-25 finishes.
Han finished 20th in the Men's Div. I foil out of a field of 188. He went 7-2 overall, reaching the round of 32 in bracket competition.
Vestel had a pair of Top-25 finishes. In the Junior Women's Saber, Vestel placed 18th out of a field of 127, reaching the round of 32 in bracket competition. Vestel then finished 25th in Div. I Women's Saber our of a field of 110, reaching the round of 32. She posted 11 total bout victories.
Freshman Melissa Kline also competed well in the Div. I Women's Foil, placing 34th out of a field of 107. Kline went 5-1 in pool competition.
The Falcons also had a Top-40 finish by freshman William Barber. Barber placed 36th out of a field of 213 in the Junior Men's Saber. Barber posted six bout victories and made the round of 64.
