
Griffith and Nott Highlight Air Force Fencing’s Six MPSF Annual Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force fencing program earned a pair of yearly awards for the 2023 season by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Jack Griffith was named MPSF Men's Freshman Fencer of the Year and ADi Nott was named the MPSF Assistant Fencing Coach of the Year. Air Force also had four cadet-athletes earn All-MPSF Fencing honors, announced today by the conference office.
Griffith, who competes in the foil weapon, is coming off a standout rookie campaign. Griffith won the 2023 NCAA Western Regional men's foil Championship and the MPSF men's foil Championship. Griffith also qualified for the NCAA Championships, placing 19th.
Nott helped lead Air Force earn six NCAA qualifiers, which tied for the second-most in the program's history. The Falcons finished 11th at the NCAA's for its second-best finish at the NCAA's since 2003. Air Force was also the top finishing MPSF program. Nott, who works with the foil group, sent three foil fencers to the NCAAs for the Falcons in Griffth, junior Ned Maurer and freshman Melissa Kline.
Griffith and Kline and freshman Mira Vestel (women's saber) earned First-team All-MPSF honors. Junior Josie Ratzlaff earned second-team honors in women's epee.
Air Force concludes the 2022-23 season with the All-Academy Duels on April 15-16. The All-Academy Duels feature Air Force, Army and Navy and will take place in the Cadet Gym at the Academy.
