Air Force announced the addition of Will Corrigan to the Falcon Lacrosse coaching staff, Friday morning. Corrigan comes to USAFA by way of Harvard where he served as the Assistant Offensive Coordinator, Faceoff Coordinator, and Riding Coordinator.
"We are thrilled to welcome Will and Julie Corrigan and daughter Soleil to the Air Force Academy family," exclaimed head coach Bill Wilson. "Will brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to USAFA and has already hit the ground running."
Corrigan oversaw the Harvard ride that finished the season ranked third in the nation after holding opponents to a .789 clear percentage in 2023 and ranked fourth in the nation in 2022 Corrigan helped usher in the new era of Harvard Men's Lacrosse in 2022 after he helped lead the team to an 8-4 regular season record which secured the team its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014. Under his leadership, the Crimson dominated the transition game, holding opponents to the fourth-worst clearing percentage in the nation. In his role as an assistant offensive coordinator, Corrigan helped coach three All-Ivy league players in Sam King, Owen Gaffney, and Andrew Perry. Coach Corrigan oversaw the faceoff unit, which saw an improvement every season under his leadership.
Corrigan arrived at Harvard after a successful stint as an Assistant Offensive Coach at Washington and Lee for two seasons. Corrigan helped lead the Generals to the ODAC regular season champions in 2018 and 2019; as well as a 2019 tournament championship title leading to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Corrigan also coached the 2018 and 2019 All-American face-off man unit to top 10 in the country. While coaching the ride and substitution box, W & L Held opponents to 72.9% clearing in 2019. Both years that Coach Corrigan was at Washington and Lee, the staff was voted IMLCA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year. While in Lexington, Corrigan coached the Generals' all-time leader scorer on offense, AJ Witherall and the all-time leader in face-off wins, Jack Hodgson.
Corrigan came to Washington and Lee from the Woodinville Lacrosse Club, where he served as the varsity head coach and program director for two years. Corrigan built a program based on leadership, accountability, and discipline leading the team to the 1st Division I state playoff appearance in 2016, followed by a 2017 state semifinals appearance. Corrigan also guided the growth and development of the kindergarten through eighth grade teams. While coaching with the Falcons, Corrigan also coached the CitySideLax travel teams, where he coordinated recruiting and curriculum since 2015.
A 2015 graduate of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Corrigan was a four-year letterwinner on the Fighting Irish men's lacrosse team. An Academic All-ACC selection, Corrigan played in all 65 games (a program record) of his college career, including reaching the NCAA tournament 2012 semifinals, 2013 quarterfinals, 2014 finals, and 2015 semifinals. Corrigan has strong ties to the game of lacrosse, as his father Kevin Corrigan has served as the head coach at Notre Dame for more than 30 years. Corrigan is the grandson of former Notre Dame athletic director Gene Corrigan, who retired in `97 as the commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference and was inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in February of 1994. Will and his wife Julie Honeycutt welcomed their first daughter Soleil Corrigan on July 21st, 2023.
"As excited as we are about Coach Corrigan on the lacrosse field, we are even more thrilled about the educator and mentor he truly is," coach Wilson continued. "With the semester drawing near excitement is high as we start a new journey together."
