Falcons Wrap Up Action at Season Opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Air Force cross country team, which includes the 17th-ranked men's team and a women's squad receiving votes in the USTFCCCA Preseason Coaches Poll, kicked off the 2023 season this morning (Sept. 1) at the AFXC Classic in Colorado Springs.
Sophomore India Jones crossed the finish line in 17:18.0 to win the women's three-mile race, while junior Tiaree Towler and senior Rachel Crytser finished second (17:22.0) and third (17:49.0), respectively, with sub 18-minute marks. Junior Ally Peterson completed the course in 18:04.0 to take fourth, while freshman Ella Johnson raced to an 18:10.0 finish to round out the top-five in her collegiate debut.
Just four seconds separated the top three men in their five-mile circuit around Monument Valley Park, with senior Luke Combs earning the victory in a time of 25:47.0. Sophomore Max Sannes and senior Sean Maison rounded out the top-three with matching times of 25:51.0, while junior Jason Renze finished fourth in a time of 26-flat. Senior Eli Bennett finished fifth with a time of 26:07.0 – and crossed the finish line just two seconds ahead of sophomore Zach Ayers (26:07.0), who finished sixth.
Air Force returns to action on Sept. 16, when they head to Denver for the Roadrunner Invitational.
