Falcons end road trip with 2-1 loss
9/10/2023 11:30:00 AM | Women's Soccer
The Falcons were on the defensive right out of the gate, as the Bison connected on a long cross into the box, leading to a headed goal just two minutes into the match.
Air Force managed to settle into the game, keeping the deficit at 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
The Falcons did create a scoring chance, as Air Force was awarded a penalty kick in the 64th minute, however Mia Otero's attempt at goal was saved to deny the visitors the game-tying score.
Even so, Air Force's offensive persistence eventually paid off. In the 77th minute, a Falcons corner kick appeared to be cleared, but Hailey Ramos struck a pinpointed one-timer through traffic to equalize the match.
The goal marks Ramos' first of the season, and her first score since 2021.
Not long after the Falcons leveled the score, Bucknell worked its way into a penalty kick of their own in the 84th minute. Cammi Bych made an impressive save on the initial try, but the ball wasn't cleared, allowing a second-chance opportunity that was converted by the Bison.
Unfortunately, Air Force was unable to find a second equalizer in the final minutes.
Otero led the Falcons with two shots on goal on three total attempts. The Falcons were credited with six total shots on goal as the result of 17 overall shots.
Next, Air Force has nearly a week to prepare for the Washington Huskies, as the Falcons host the PAC-12 opponent on Saturday, September 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm MT.
