Falcons Head East for Virginia Invitational

The Air Force cross country team, which includes the 17th-ranked men, travels to Charlottesville, Va., this Saturday (Sept. 23) to compete at the Virginia Invitational.
MEET INFORMATION
The Virginia Invitational will take place at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville – the site of this year's NCAA Cross Country Championships – on Saturday, Sept. 23. The day begins with a non-scored 5K at 8:00 a.m., while the collegiate races will take place at 8:45 a.m. (men's 8K) and 9:30 a.m. (women's 5K). Live results will be available via PrimeTime Timing.

Of the 47 accepted teams for the Viriginia Invitational, 32 are ranked or receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA national standings. The full field includes both squads from Air Force (No. 17 men), Colorado (No. 7 men, No. 5 women), Columbia, Duke (both RV), Eastern Kentucky (men RV), Elon, Georgetown (men RV, No. 12 women), Iowa State (No. 27 men, No. 26 women), Navy, North Carolina (No. 6 men, No. 10 women), Northern Arizona (No. 1 men, No. 2 women), Providence (No. 14 women), Stanford (No. 11 men, No. 9 women), Syracuse (No. 11 men, women RV), UNC Charlotte, Utah State, Virginia (No. 10 men, No. 11 women), and Washington (No. 18 men, No. 15 women), as well as men's teams from Butler (No. 19), BYU (No. 3), Michigan (No. 28), Princeton (No. 25), Villanova (No. 12) and Wake Forest (RV), and women's programs from James Madison, Liberty, Michigan State (No. 15), Northwestern (No. 29), and Ohio State (No. 20).

09-19-23 | The men, who earned a No. 17 preseason nod in the national rankings last month, held that placement in the Week 1 edition of the USTFCCCA poll that was released on Sept. 19.
BRINGING HOME A HAUL
09-19-23 | Air Force captured a program-best three Mountain West Athlete of the Week accolades on Sept. 19, as Brenton Maddox was named the MW Men's Runner of the Week, Patrick Lawson was named the MW Men's Freshman of the Week, and Michaela Workman was named the MW Women's Freshman of the Week. It was the first career honor for all three Falcons.
THE NEXT COURSE
Air Force returns to action on Friday, Oct. 6, for close-to-home running at the UCCS Cross Country Open.
