Falcons Set to Host First-Ever USAFA West Invitational

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team will make history this weekend, when it welcomes six NCBA regional opponents to the Cadet Gym Boxing Room for the first-ever USAFA West Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Competition is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. (MT) and will feature 24 bouts, with a 20-minute intermission scheduled after the 12th fight. The Falcons will be featured in every contest, as they toe the line against National Collegiate Boxing Association contenders from California, Nevada, Santa Clara, UC Davis, Utah and Washington.

Admission is free.

Air Force will face off against Nevada, Santa Clara and UC Davis during the first session, while California, Utah and Washington will make up the Falcons' competition in the second session.

Air Force swept the men's and women's team titles at the NCBA Western Regional last season, enroute to its first national title since 2012. The men, who will face off against regional competition several times in the coming weeks, have captured 39 of the last 42 western titles during the NCBA postseason.
