U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force defenseman Luke Rowe is on the ballot for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, presented annually to college hockey's top player.
Rowe is fifth in the nation in points by a defenseman with 26 points (5-21-26) in 26 games this season. He has three power-play goals, one overtime game-winner and 39 blocked shots this season. In all games and among all players, Rowe is second in the league in assists (21) and tied for second in points (26). A three-time team captain, he has been named the AHA Defensive Player of the Week four times this season, more than any other league player.

Phase two of fan balloting will come from the list of Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists beginning March 20 and closing March 31. The fans' vote accounts for a percentage of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.
Air Force has had three players named Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists: forward Eric Ehn (2007), forward Jacques Lamoureux (2009) and defenseman Tim Kirby (2012). Ehn became the first service academy player to ever be named a finalist for the award. He was also chosen as one of the final three, becoming Air Force's only Hobey Hat Trick finalist in 2007.
Award criteria include candidates exhibiting the exceptional character traits of the award's namesake, Hobey Baker. A legendary American hero, Baker was a World War I fighter pilot and was known as America's greatest amateur athlete in his day, excelling at hockey and football at Princeton University. Award candidates must demonstrate strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.
