U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force, ranked seventh in the nation, set a new school record in smallbore and tied the aggregate school record in a 4736-4000 win over No. 9 Ohio State, Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range. The 4736 ties the record also shot against TCU in 2022. The smallbore score of 2355 broke the previous record of 2350 set against TCU in 2022.
Senior Morgan Kreb won the aggregate with a career-best 1188. Kreb's 593 in smallbore was a career best. "The team has stayed focused on taking small steps and growing with every competition," head coach Launi Meili said. "We are very balanced. Every team member has led the team at some point this season. It's a good feeling when one may be struggling, that the rest of the team is ready to step up. It's happened in almost every match, and as we are moving up the rankings, this ia nice strength to know we can rely on."
Air Force travels to Columbus, Ohio, for a tri-meet against Alaska and Ohio State, Thursday, Feb. 1. The Falcons will then compete in the Patriot Rifle Conference championships, Feb. 3-4, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
