USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Highlighted by the season debuts of two NCBA national champions, the Air Force boxing team continued intersquad training this evening (Oct. 10), as it hosted an 11-bout Thursday Night Throwdown in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room.
The Falcons' two returning national champions stepped into the ring for the first time this season, with junior Chinonye Mbanugo and senior Luke Kohout both picking up season-opening victories in new weight divisions. Mbanugo opened the night with a 150-pound victory over senior Peyton Glenn, while Kohout capped the event with a 160-pound decision over newcomer Niko Phelps.
The night's card was a mix of returners and newcomers.
Senior Cass Rosa picked up a 124-pound victory over sophomore Samantha Villa in the night's lighest weight class, while freshman Ellis Williams defeated classmate Patrick Weaver in the night's heavyweight division (190 pounds).
