Women’s Tennis heads to Las Cruces for ITA Mountain Region Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Three competitors from the Air Force women's tennis team head south this week to take on the ITA Mountain Region Championships, Oct. 17-22. The six-day event will be held in Las Cruces, N.M. and hosted by New Mexico State University.

Air Force captain Alexis Odom and freshman duo Shivaani Selvan and Maya Michalski will represent the Air Force Academy for the six-day event, competing for qualifying in both NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.

The Falcons in attendance this week will also have a chance to qualify for the ITA Sectional Championships, in which regional quarterfinalists in singles and semifinalist pairings in doubles will receive at-large consideration. The two singles finalists and the doubles champion will also secure a spot in the NCAA Championships in November.

The five-day tournament opens with singles qualifying matches, where 16 of the top remaining 64 players will earn a bid into the main draw alongside the other 48 automatic qualifiers. Main draw singles and doubles play will then start on day two and continue through Tuesday, Oct. 22.
