Falcons Take Two in Detroit

DETROIT – Senior Billie Botes and sophomore Ellison Taylor captured victories over Navey and Army West Point, respectively, last night (Oct. 23), as the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition against its service academy counterparts at the Chuck Davey Invitational at the Detroit Athletic Club.
Botes earned a 147-pound title over Navy's Cami Johnson, while Taylor defeated Army West Point's Elihaj Gates in s 170-pound contest.
Four other Falcons also competed at the annual event in Detroit on Friday. Junior Dominic Felz and senior Peyton Glenn suffered losses to boxers from Army West Point, as Feliz fell in his 140-pound bout with Andre Sweet and Glenn lose a decision to Haley Shaw in the 150-pound contest. In the remaining bouts with Navy, sophomore Noah Gilley lost a 156-pound matchup with Solomon Festa and classmate Justin Bonilla dropped a 185-pound decision to Justin Kirkpatrick.
The Falcons head to New York next week (Nov. 1) for a rematch with Army West Point.
