This Week: The eighth-ranked Air Force rifle team hosts No. 1-ranked Kentucky and No. 12 Akron in a pair of meets this weekend. The teams will battle on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 8:45 am MT at the Cadet Rifle Range and on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 8:00 am MT at the Olympic Training Center. Live scoring will be available at MegaLink.
The Matchup: Kentucky's aggregate season average of 4729.0 is the fourth best in the nation. Air Force's season average of 4717.8 is the seventh best. Akron's aggregate average of 4698.0 is the 12th best. Air Force's air rifle average of 2382.2 is the fourth best in the nation and 0.40 ahead of Kentucky.
Top Falcons: Senior Lauren Hurley leads the team and ranks 11th in the nation with an aggregate average of 1183.80. Freshman Lily Wytko has an aggregate of 1180.66 and junior Victoria Leppert is at 1173.00. Hurley's air rifle average of 1183.80 is the third best in the nation.
Last Week: The top-ranked Alaska Nanooks defeated seventh-ranked Air Force, 4735-4711, in a dual meet at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range. Nanook Cecilia Ossi won the aggregate with an 1188. Senior Lauren Hurley was the top Falcon, finishing third overall with a score of 1183. Freshman Lily Wytko was fourth (1182) and junior Victoria Leppert was ninth at 1170. Hurley won the air rifle, matching her season high of 599, just one point off of her perfect score of 600 she shot last season. Wytko was third with a 597. Sophomore Megan Torrence was seventh (594) and Leppert was eighth (593). In smallbore, the Nanooks took the top three spots. Wytko was fourth (585), Hurley was fifth (584) and Scott Rockett was seventh (582).
