Air Force Splits Card at Causeway Boxing Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Air Force boxing team split a six-bout card at the inaugural Causeway Boxing Classic, hosted by Sacramento State, on Friday, Nov. 22. Members of the men's squad collected two of the Falcons' three wins, including a sweep of the two 132-pound contests.
Junior Dominic Feliz, who was named the team's Boxer of the Week, put Air Force on the board with a 132-pound victory over UC Davis' Christopher Sierra, while freshman Juneau Kim followed that up with another win in that weight class – this time over USC's Patrick Chang, the reigning USIBA national champion. Sophomore Ellis Taylor continued his strong fall campaign, as he defeated UC Davis' Misael Renteria-Encina in a 175-pound showdown.
Sophomore Justin Bonilla dropped a heavyweight (203 pounds) decision to Austin Melendez of show-host Sacramento State, while classmate Noah Gilley fell in his 156-pound bout with USC's Justin Zho and fellow sophomore Samanta Villa suffered a loss to UC Daivs' Aliya Hirzy in the Falcons' only female bout of the night (125 pounds).
The Falcons close out the fall semester on Monday, Nov. 25, when three boxers travel to New York, N.Y., for the annual Arthur Mercante Invitational.
