Air Force Fencing Completes Competition At 2024 Western Invitational

USAF Academy, Colo. -fencing programs in the nation, the Falcons came away with five team victories in head-to-head competition.
On the men's side, Air Force competed against Incarnate Word, Ohio State, Harvard, Stanford, Brandeis and UC San Diego. The Falcons earned its wins over UIW 21-8 and Brandeis 16-11.
On the women's side, Air Force competed against UIW, Ohio State, Harvard, Tufts, Stanford, Brandeis, UCSD and Northwestern. The Falcons earned wins over UIW (16-11), Tufts (16-11) and Brandeis (18-9).
The Falcons had 10 cadet-athletes notch double-digit win totals, with five each coming from both teams.
On the women's side, sophomore Christina Watrall led the way with 20 wins in epee. Watrall went a perfect 3-0 against five opponents. Junior Melissa Kline also had a standout weekend with 18 wins. Kline had a winning record against seven opponents. Junior Mira Vestel led the saber group with 12 wins. Sophomore Anning Mi had 11 wins in foil and junior Ellie Kim had 10 wins in epee.
On the men's side, junior Omar Emara led the way with 13 wins in epee. Juniors Jack Griffith (foil) and Mack Luebbe (saber), sophomore Jackson Houtz (saber) and freshman Shwan Lee (epee) followed with 11 wins each.
The Falcons return to action at the November NAC, which runs Nov. 8-11 in Louisville, Ky.
