The Air Force women's tennis team returns to the Academy to conclude its 2024 dual non-conference slate, hosting No. 63 Grand Canyon in the Cadet Gym at 5:30 p.m.
Falcons at a Glance:
Air Force, in search of its second dual win of the season, is a combined 13-25 in singles play and 7-11 in doubles.
Freshman Nadia Kojonroj leads the Falcons in singles with a 5-1 record and seeking her third-straight win. All five of her victories have been earned in straight sets. Sophomore Arianna Van Houweling, at 4-3 in singles, looks to get back on track after starting 4-2. Van Houweling's last victory was a three-set, 10-7 tiebreak win at FGCU on Feb. 17.
Grand Canyon:
No. 63 GCU, winner of the WAC tennis title in two of the last three seasons, arrives at the Academy with a 9-2 dual record, only sporting losses to Arizona (4-0) and Baylor (4-3). The Lopes are currently sport a 38-8 singles record and are 18-8 in doubles play.
Last Time Out:
Facing Army West Point on the USTA National Campus in Orlando on Feb. 17, the Falcons earned a pair of victories over its fellow service academy but could not pull off the team win as Air Force fell, 4-1.
The Falcons pulled off the first win of the day, as lead off duo Arianna Van Houweling/Isabella Flodin downed Army tandem Cooper Jackson/Paige Herremans. Army notched set wins on courts two and three off a deuce point to clinch the doubles point.
On line three in singles, freshman Nadia Kojonroj earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jenna Sabile, earning fifth win in six matches. All five wins have been earned in straight sets.
