
Air Force prepares for final regular season meet in Denver

Both of the Air Force swimming and diving programs, in their final regular season meet, will travel north to Denver to compete at the Denver First Chance Invitational, a two-day event. The meet will begin Friday, February 9 and run through Saturday, February 10. The opening day of competition will begin at 3:00 pm MT, with Saturday's action beginning at 10:00 am MT. The women will face-off with such programs as Colorado State, Colorado School of Mines, Denver, Northern Colorado and Wyoming, while the men are slated to go against Colorado School of Mines, Denver, and Wyoming.
Last Time Out (Women)
-On January 26, Air Force swam to a 145.00-56.00 win over Seattle to send the class of 2024 out in style.
-The splendor of the C1C's final performance at home began with the Air Force 400 Medley Relay team of Anna Ashley, Mandy Fleetwood, Shayla Markle, and Lily Bachl posting a winning time of 3:47.55.
-In her only other race, Fleetwood won the 200 Breaststroke after touching out at 2:18.55.
-Following the relay, Katie Andrist proceeded to win the 1000 Freestyle with a 10:24.65. Jessica Smith (10:45.55) and Natalie Gembicki (10:45.79) finished second and third, respectively.
-Andirst was also the top placer in the 500 Freestyle, as her 5:07.35 finished ahead of the second-place swimmer by more than 30 seconds.
-Lauren Arnold provided a 1:52.34 to win the 200 Freestyle, edging out teammate Abby Turner (1:52.39) by .05 seconds. Arnold also finished second in the 200 Butterfly (2:05.20).
-Continuing the theme of Air Force triumph, Ryan Mills (23.72) and Alex Clark (23.74) managed the top two spots in the 50 Freestyle. Clark also added a race win in the 200 Backstroke (2:04.22).
-Abigail Hardy maintained her rousing form, earning a victory in the 200 Butterfly as the result of her 2:04.21.
-Doing so in her final swim at Cadet Nataorium, Kara Gavin earned a win in the 100 Freestyle, posting a 52.25. Freshman Kirsten Lee was second with a 52.83.
Last Time Out (Men)
-On January 26, Air Force earned a dual win over Seattle, taking down the Redhawks 130.50-70.50.
-In his concluding appearance as a Falcon at Cadet Natatorium, Moore swam as part of the Falcons 400 Medley Relay team that began the evening with a 3:22.09 to finish second.
-The North Carolina native also finished second in the 200 Backstroke (1:50.17) while ending his night in the 400 Freestyle Relay, contributing to a combined time of 3:03.31.
-James Winterfield carried his strong performance in Provo into Friday's meet, besting the field in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39.59. Freshmen Joe Christ (1:43.08) and Tyler Surratt (1:46.05) were second and third.
-Winterfield's night hadn't finished just yet, as the sophomore earned another race win in the 200 Butterfly following his 1:52.69. Christ wasn't done either, as his 4:43.93 in the 500 Freestyle resulted in his first collegiate win.
-C4C Chase Dwornicki added a season-best time in the 50 Freestyle, posting a 20.90. The freshman placed second in the swim.
-Camden Swigart (4:09.51), Ralph Fiscus (4:15.95) and Anthony Sebastian swept the proverbial podium in the 400 IM, as the trio finished 1-2-3.
-Sebastian would go on to win the 200 Breaststroke after a 2:04.85, while Bridon Rosales (2:06.35) and Tommy Nagle (2:06.72) were second and third.
-Once more, Louie Body's 1:50.17 was the top swim in the 200 Backstroke.
