
Air Force creates new program highs in third day of WAC Championships

PHARR- Air Force completed its third of a scheduled four days at the 2024 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, with the Falcons seeing two new program bests and a variety of lifetime bests. After three days in Pharr, Air Force owns 309.00 team points to stand fifth among the six teams.
Following a 53.94 in his preliminary 100 Breaststroke swim, Tommy Nagle would eventually finish third in his championship swim as the result of a 53.68. Nagle, having already owned the sixth-best time in the event in Air Force history, moved two rungs to fourth after Friday's conclusion.
A newcomer into the Falcons top-ten of the 100 Breaststroke, Bridon Rosales rallied for a 54.86 to place seventh in the final round which equates to ninth in the top-ten among Air Force swimmers.
With two new lifetime bests, the pair of cadets swung 28 team points into the Falcons favor.
Anthony Sebastian was among the Falcons to craft a new personal best in the 100 Breaststroke, as his 54.99 in the morning round reflects the quickest of his career. Freshman Mack Nuval also produced a new personal high in the event, managing a 55.42 in his "B" Final swim.
Camden Swigart, the defending 400 IM champion of the conference, managed a season-best time of 3:50.40 to earn bronze in the championship race. Sebastian was again a point-scorer, closing in 11th with a 4:00.38, another personal high for the sophomore.
Both James Winterfield and Joe Christ qualified for the 200 Freestyle finals, with the underclassmen looking to add on to what had already been impressive showings.
Christ put together a 1:38.20 in to finish sixth in the preliminary swim, a new lifetime best for the freshman. He would eventually place eighth in the championship round. Winterfield bested his initial swim to touch out at 1:37.90, good for sixth overall.
Joseph Moore bested his preliminary time to place 10th overall in the 100 Butterfly, closing with a 48.06. The C1C's effort now stands as a new personal best.
As well, Louis Body would eventually finish 12th overall in the consolation finals of the 100 Backstroke with a 49.37.
To close the swimmers ledger, Body, Moore, Nagle, and Gavin Peterman swam to a season-best time in the 400 Medley Relay, closing with a 3:15.31.
All four Air Force divers created points for the Falcons, with Alex Kenyon leading the way in 10th after being judged for 284.85 points. Tristan Trax (260.45), Ian Asuncion-Duong (232.65), and Korbin Moyer (197.20) combined for 15 team points.
Tomorrow, Air Force will see its time in Pharr come to an end, as the Falcons will conclude the WAC Championships with such events as the 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 1650 Freestyle, and 400 Freestyle Relay.
