Women’s tennis falls 5-2 in MW opener against CSU

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo, - In spite of inclement weather, the Air Force women's tennis team plowed ahead in its Mountain West opener with Colorado State. Despite running in a pair of singles victories, the Falcons fell, 5-2, to the Rams on Friday afternoon at the Cadet Gym.
The Falcons were anchored by singles wins on lines three and five for junior Alexis Odom and freshman Giovanna Sanchirico, earning her first dual win as a Falcon. Odom struck first, notching a 6-4, 6-2 victory on line three over CSU's Sarah Weekley. Sanchirico earned a straight-set, 6-1, 6-2 win over Logan Voeks on court five.
Air Force dropped the doubles point, falling on lines one and two (Odom/Nadia Kojonroj vs. Radka Buzkova/Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya, 6-3; Isabella Flodin/Arianna Van Houweling vs. Zara Lennon/Sarah Weekley, 6-2). The Falcons' newcomer pairing of Sanchirico/Joselyn Limbago led in their set over Logan Voeks/Sarka Richterova, 5-4, before their match was called.
Air Force, after falling in doubles, lost to clinch to CSU on lines one (Van Houweling vs. Lennon), two (Kojonroj vs. Buzkova) and four (Flodin vs. Luana Avelar).
