Air Force falls to Army in Saturday loss

SUGAR LAND- In its final matchup with a service academy rival, Air Force didn't offer its best showing, as the Falcons were topped 13-2 in seven innings by Army.
Aerik Joe was one of four Falcons to record a hit, as his leadoff single in the 3rd extended his on-base streak to 44 games. The senior finished the day 1-3.
Chase Spencer provided a double while scoring a run, as Jake Greiving also lined a two-base hit the other way. Jay Thomason added a base-hit as well.
Both T.J. Oster and Walker Zapp managed RBI groundouts to account for both of the Air Force runs.
Though the offense struck for just two runs, the Air Force pitching staff didn't do itself any favors on Saturday.
Dylan Rogers made his second start of the year and was pulled after 2.0+ innings. The junior surrendered five runs (four earned) to go with four hits and three walks over his six outs.
In relief of Rogers was Kyle Moats, who gave up three walks and three runs over his 1.1 innings. Jack Bello picked up just one out in the 4th, and was also responsible for three earned runs.
Air Force trailed 11-2 after four innings.
Even though the ballgame had broken open, Rhyne Davis did well to work around three walks to post 1.2 scoreless innings.
Covering two outs, Patrick Davidson picked up a strikeout in his collegiate debut.
In total, the Air Force pitching staff permitted Army to nine walks and two hit-batters while allowing nine stolen bases.
Next, Air Force will see the Battle at the Ballpark come to an end, as the Falcons are slated to face Louisiana Tech on Sunday, March 3. First-pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm MT.
