Air Force can't get bats going in 6-1 Saturday loss

FRESNO- Air Force was held to one extra-base hit in the second game of its series against Fresno State, as the Falcons couldn't keep pace with the Bulldogs in Saturday's 6-1 loss.

Chase Spencer was 1-3 with a double and a walk, as his two-bagger was Air Force's only non-single.

Ben Niednagel brought home the only Falcon run with an RBI single in the 7th, finishing 1-4.

After connecting on the go-ahead home run last night, Sam Kulasingam reached base in three of his four plate appearances, going 1-2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

Charlie Jones, Christian Taylor, and Walker Zapp also provided base-hits.

Dylan Rogers was mostly effective in his 4.0+ innings, striking out six batters, though a pair of multi-run innings forced his exit from the ballgame.

Fresno State opened the game with two runs in the 1st, though Rogers would face just one batter over the minimum between the 2nd and 4th innings. However, the junior allowed a lead-off home run in the 5th, followed by a single and an RBI triple to see his afternoon end.

Jimmy Hebenstreit surrendered an inherited run in the Bulldogs three-run 5th, though the southpaw did well to give his team a chance to claw back.

Hebenstreit was responsible for just a solo home run in the 7th, giving up only two hits over his 4.0 innings of relief.

Air Force's six-game Mountain West winning streak snapped on Saturday, as the Falcons move to 6-2 in conference play to remain atop the standings.

Next, the Falcons will try for the series win on Sunday, March 24 with first-pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm MT.
