Baker leads Falcons on day one in San Diego

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Freshman Carson Baker led the Air Force golf team on the first day of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines North Course, Sunday, March 24, in La Jolla, Calif.
Baker birdied four of his first six holes en route to a two-over-par 74. Baker shot a one-under 35 on the front side. Fellow freshman Eli Huntington, along with sophomore Alvaro Fonseca, each shot 78 while junior Cameron Kahle and sophomore Brooks Morrell each shot 79.
As a team, the Falcons shot a 309 to sit in 13th place. Yale, North Dakota State and Oklahoma Christian are all tied for first at 293. UC Santa Barbara and Idaho are tied for fourth at 298. Mountain West foe Utah State is one spot ahead of Air Force at 307.
The Falcons are back on the course for round two on Monday, March 25, at 1 pm PT in La Jolla.
