
Air Force Opens MW Play Hosting Nevada and #67 Utah State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis opens Mountain West play with a pair of home matches. The Falcons host Nevada on Thursday, March 28 and #67 Utah State on Saturday, March 30. Both matches are slated for noon MT starts.

About the Falcons: Air Force is 5-8 on the season. The Falcons return seven letterwinners off the 2022-23 team, which went 12-11 on the season. The Falcons welcome three newcomers, including two freshmen. Air Force returns its top No. 1 singles players in All-MW singles and doubles selection in junior Arjun Kersten and senior and team captain Nick Vroman. In addition, the Falcons return sophomore Phillip Deaton, the 2023 Mountain West Freshman of the Year.
Last time out: Air Force dropped a 5-2 contest to #36 Denver. Freshman Alec Fritzinger and sophomore Jack Brown picked up wins for the Falcons in singles play.
Urbina takes over program: Evan Urbina enters his first season as the head coach for Air Force. Urbina helped build up the program the previous nine years as the assistant coach under Dan Oosterhous, who retired from coaching after the 2022-23 season.
About Nevada: Nevada is 4-8 on the season. The Wolf Pack dropped a 4-3 contest to St. Mary's in its last outing. Nevada takes on #43 Denver Tuesday prior to its match with the Falcons.
About Utah State: Utah State is 13-3 on the season. The Aggies defeated Idaho 4-0 and lost to Boise State 4-3 in their last round of competition. Utah State takes on New Mexico prior to its match against the Falcons.
