
Play suspended in second round in Arizona

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Play was suspended due to lightning in the second round of the Cowboy Classic, Monday, April 1, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
In the first round, the Falcons played their final three holes in eight-under-par to shoot a 294 (+6) and sit in 21st place, two shots ahead of MW rival Utah State. Freshmen Carson Baker and Eli Huntington and sophomore Alvaro Fonseca all shot 73 (+1) in the first round. Junior Christopher Park shot 75 and junior Cameron Kahle shot 76.
After an early double-bogey, Fonseca made three birdies and played the final 15 holes in one-under-par. Baker also made three birdies on the day, including two in his final three holes. Huntington played his final two holes in three-under-par, including an eagle on the par-5, 576-yard 16th hole. Huntington hit his second shot from 250 yards out to three feet from the cup, making the Falcons' first eagle of the day.
In the second round, the Falcons played 14 holes before weather suspended play. Kahle sits at even par with one birdie and one bogey. Park is at +2, while Fonseca, Baker and Huntington are each at +4.
Teams will finish the second round, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, April 2, with a shotgun start at 7:30 am MT.
