Air Force Men’s Tennis Falls To #61 Boise State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis dropped a 5-2 contest to #61 Boise State (16-10, 4-1 MW) in Mountain West play Thursday afternoon at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts.

The Falcons were led by singles wins by junior Arjun Kersten and sophomore AJ Moore.

Kersten capped a standout MW season with a win at No. 1 over Sam Sippel 7-6 (11-9), 6-2. He finished MW play with a 5-1 overall record in singles matches.

Moore won at No. 3 over Jame Van Herzeele 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Moore also won in doubles, teaming with freshman Tyler Leaird to win at No. 2 over van Assendelft/Haddouch 6-4.

Prior to the match, the Falcons honored its senior class of 2024, consisting of team captain Nick Vroman and manager David Coppock. Vroman competed for the Falcons at No. 3 doubles, dropping a close match with Phillip Deaton, falling to Middleton/Moortgat 7-6 (8-3).

Head Coach Evan Urbina recapping the match:
"We competed well against another good conference team today. It came down to a breaker in doubles and after splitting the first four singles, our freshman worked hard to make a comeback. It wasn't to be today, but we will take the momentum gained into the conference tournament. Our athletic department showed up today! We're grateful for the support and I know Nick Vroman felt celebrated for his amazing four years here."

Air Force returns to action at the 2024 Mountain West Men's Tennis Championships, running April 24-26, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
