
Air Force Fencing Completes Competition At USA Fencing Div. I Championships

Air Force fencing completed competition at the 2024 Div. I Championships/April North American Cup, which ran April 26-28, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Falcons had six competitors earn Top-50 finishes.
Freshman Christina Watrall led the Falcons with a 19th place finish in the Div. I women's epee out of a field of 135. Watrall posted six victories and reached the round of 32 in the bracket competition.
Sophomore Jack Griffith was the top men's finisher with a 28th place finish in the Div. I men's foil out of a field of 141. Griffith had five wins and reached the round of 32.
Sophomore Omar Emara also had a top-50 finish, placing 34th in the Div. I men's epee out of a field of 203. Emara went 6-0 in pool competition. Matthew Han, a 2023 USAFA graduate and four-year letterwinner winner with Falcon Fencing, placed 81st in men's epee.
Air Force also had top-50 performances from sophomores James Jang, Melissa Kline and senior Josie Ratzlaff. Jang was 45th in the men's foil with five victories. Kline finished 43rd in the Div. I women's foil out of a field of 91. Ratlzaff was 45th in women's epee with five wins.
Sophomore Mira Vestel placed 60th in the Div. I women's saber out of a field of 119. Freshman Rafael Li also competed for the Falcons in both the junior and Div. I men's foil.
