U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Stacy McIntyre, the announced ninth head coach of Air Force Women's basketball, was honored on Tuesday evening, as Falcon Athletics ushers in the next era of women's hoops at the Academy.
Air Force Director of Athletics Nathan Pine formally welcomed McIntyre into the position, and the newest Falcon head coach addressed media and those in attendance:
"While winning has, and will continue to be a priority (for our program), It is understood that our greater mission is to produce leaders of character who will serve in our nation's air and space forces," McIntyre said.
"You can look forward to continue seeing a tenacious team on defense, a team which pushes the ball up the floor, and a team which will be intentional on offense. "What's special about this for me is that I have an opportunity to take on a role as head coach with players who I recruited, families I know, a supportive administration, loyal fans … and just a true Falcon family."
McIntyre, in the wake of former head coach Chris Gobrecht's retirement after a nine-year stint with the Falcons, was announced as the newest face of the Air Force program on April 25.
