
Brayden Richards Finishes Decathlon at U20 Worlds

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force freshman Brayden Richards wrapped up competition at the World Athletics U20 Championships yesterday (Aug. 30), as he finished 23rd in the decathlon during the global meet in Lima, Peru.
Richards, who earned the Team USA bid after placing second at the USATF U20 Championships prior to reporting to the Academy for Basic Cadet Training, tallied 5652 points over the two-day, 10-event competition. During the first day (Aug. 29), Richards clocked an 11.52 in the 100-meter dash (748 points), jumped 6.36 meters in the long jump (666), recorded a throw of 10.81 meters in the shot put (534) and cleared 1.70 meters (544) in the high jump, before suffering a disqualification in the 400-meter dash. He returned to Estadio Athletico de la Videna on Aug. 30, where he posted a time of 15.41 (801) in the 110-meter hurdles, threw 34.13 meters in the discus throw (546), cleared 4.40 meters in the pole vault (731), recorded a throw of 47.97 in the javelin throw (559), and clocked a 5.06.44 in the 1500-meter run (523).
