Baylor Pulls Away From Falcons

Air Force kept the game close in the first half with a ball-control offense and an opportunistic defense to make it a 6-3 Baylor lead at the half.
Aided by three forced turnovers, Air Force held the ball for much of the first half, holding possession for 24:05 of 30 minutes. The Falcons had a seven-minute and nine-minute drive, but could only come away with three points from those drives.
Baylor scored the first points of the game, utilizing a blocked punt to get a field goal in the first quarter to go up 3-0.
The Falcon defense then kept the Baylor offense at bay, forcing a three-and-out on the next possession. The defense then forced and recovered three Bear fumbles across its next four possessions to keep the game close.
Air Force got its first score on a Matt Dapore field goal in the second quarter that capped a 16-play-65-yard drive that took 9:01 off the clock.
After tying the game, the Falcons forced back-to-back fumbles on Baylor's ensuing drives. The Bears were able to take the lead before the half however, utilizing an Air Force fumble to get a 51-yard field goal from Isaiah Hankins to end the second quarter.
Baylor erupted for four straight scores to start the second half, to roll to the 31-3 win. The Bears racked up 478 total yards of offense on the night.
It was all Baylor in the third quarter, as the Bears scored on its first three possessions, getting two touchdowns and a field goal to go up 23-6. The Bears scored on its first possession of the fourth quarter to make it 31-3 after the successful two-point conversion.
Air Force had 193 yards rushing, which is a season high. Harris earned his 71 yards on just carries. Junior quarterback John Busha added 45 yards on the ground. Freshman WR Reign Broadway was the leading receiver with one catch for 18 yards.
Sophomore defensive back Kyle Chen led the Falcons with seven tackles and a forced and recovered fumble in his first-career start.
Air Force has a bye next week. The Falcons return to action in two Saturdays, Sept. 28, at Wyoming. Kickoff is 1:30 pm MT.
