Falcons Close Out Non-Conference Slate in California

The Air Force volleyball team wraps up the non-conference portion of the season this weekend, when it travels to California for three contests The Falcons open the road trip with a match at Saint Mary's on Thursday, Sept. 19, before facing San Francisco (Friday, Sept. 20) and Seattle (Saturday, Sept. 21) at the USF Challenge.
MATCH INFORMATION
Thursday's contest at Saint Mary's will take place at the University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, while both matches of the USF Challenge will take place inside War Memorial at The Sobrato Center in San Francisco. Both of the Falcons' true road matches will be streamed by the home teams on ESPN+, while live stats will be available for all three contests (direct links are available on the volleyball schedule page at GoAirForceFalcons.com..
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Saint Mary's, who took No. 19 Arkansas to five in the season opener, is currently 2-4 on the year following a perfect weekend at the Titan Invitational – a 3-0 sweep of Oral Roberts and a 3-1 win over host Cal State Fullerton. San Francisco, who will play San Jose State on Thursday, is also coming off an undefeated weekend. The Dons, who enter the week with a 5-4 record, picked up 3-0 sweeps of Houston Christian, UTRGV, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at the Vaqueros' tournament in Edinberg, Texas. Seattle, who will play at Saint Mary's on Thursday, is currently 1-6 on the year after dropping a home-and-home series with Portland last weekend.
HISTORY 101
The Falcons are 1-2 all-time against Saint Mary's, but downed the Gaels in four last season during a neutral site match in Santa Clara. Both of Air Force's losses to Saint Mary's (1996, 2013) came in Moraga. The Falcons have won three of the five all-time meetings against San Francisco, last facing the Dons at the Academy in 2022 – a 3-1 Air Force win. Air Force has only faced San Francisco once on their home court – a loss in 2013 that coincided with the team's last trip to Saint Mary's. Air Force is 0-2 against Seattle, with both matches (2011, 2021) coming at neutral sites.
