
Women’s Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader Saturday

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Signs of the potential for what Air Force Women's Tennis brings to the table in the 2025 dual season continue to manifest themselves, as the Falcons earned their first and second wins of the season, downing Montana, 6-1, and MSU Denver, 5-0, in Cadet East Gym on Saturday.
The Falcons, from the top down, won out in each competition on Saturday, save one – a three-set battle between seniors Alexis Odom and Montana's Grace Haugen which fell to a super tiebreak third set.
Air Force clinched both doubles points on Saturday, going 5-1 on all six courts. Freshman duo Shivaani Selvan/Sofia Mavor, on line three, earned the first point of the day, downing Kelsey Phillips/ Shivika Agrawal, 6-2. After Air Force fell on court one, Odom/Maya Michalski cliched the opening point on a 5-4 deuce point. Against Metro State, the Falcons played out all three courts in doubles, as Arianna Van Houweling/Nadia Kojonroj (6-1), Odom/Michalski (6-4) and Selvan/Mavor (6-1) swept their second doubles sets.
In singles, the Falcons won on eight of nine courts. On line one, Odom, after narrowly falling to Montana's Haugen in three sets, downed Metro State's Hannah Haber 6-2 in the first set, then battled back in the second, 7-5, to earn her first dual singles win on Saturday.
Kojonroj dominated in both matches on Saturday, defeating Montana's Phillips, 6-3, 6-2, followed by a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep over MSU Denver's Victoria Ricaurte-Cabas, improving to 2-1 in dual singles this year.
Van Houweling, competing on the third flight against Montana's Rosie Sterk, winning three-straight games in her first set for a 7-5 start, followed by a 6-4 win in the second to cap her first straight-set singles victory of the season.
Mavor improved to 3-0 in singles action after notching a pair of two-set wins on Saturday. Facing Montana's Kate Pritchard, Mavor won four-straight games to close out her first set, 7-5, then secured the win in a 6-4 duel down the second. The freshman then dispatched of junior Roadrunner Kambra Roles, 6-1, 6-2, to preserve her unblemished singles record.
Selvan moved to 2-1 in her inaugural spring season, defeating Montana's Shivika Agrawal, 6-0, 6-0, followed by taking Metro State's Kim Heddes 6-2, 6-0, to complete a dominant Saturday for the Falcon newcomer.
Collectively, Air Force improves to 7-1 in dual doubles sets played and 10-5 in singles action.
