Falcons Travel to Colorado State, Nevada for MW Rematches

The Air Force volleyball team heads back out on the road this week for a pair of Mountain West rematches. The Falcons will travel to Fort Collins on Thursday, Oct. 23, to take on Colorado State for the second time in a week – and for the final time as conference opponents, before heading to Reno for a meeting with Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 25.
MATCH INFORMATION
Thursday's match at Colorado State is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. (MT) at Moby Arean on the Rams' campus in Fort Collins, while Saturday's contest at Nevada will start at 11:00 a.m. (PT) inside Virginia Street Gym in Reno. Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, while live stats will also be available.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Rams are 12-6 on the year with a 6-2 mark in conference play after taking a pair of four-set contests over Air Force and Nevada. Colorado State is ranked second in hitting (.238) and kills (13.69) during Mountain West action, while setter Erin Debiec holds that same placement in assists with an 11.00 average. The Wolfpack, who will be in Laramie on Thursday night, split last week's action, using a 3-2 win over Wyoming and a 1-3 loss to CSU at home to move to 6-12 on the year and 2-6 in the Mountain West. Nevada enters the week ranked second in the conference in aces with aa 1.53 average, while Haylee Brown holds the team's highest individual ranking in the conference standings (sixth) with 3.43 kills per set. HISTORY 101
Air Force has just two wins in its 63-match history with Colorado State, although its last victory came on the Rams' home floor during the 2020 season. Air Force improved to 15-12 all-time against Nevada with a conference-opening sweep at the end of September. Th Falcons are an even 6-6 at Virginia Street Gym, with its last win coming in 2023.
BACK TO HER OLD STOMPING GROUNDS
Air Force assistant Deedra Walker was a standout setter at Colorado State during her collegiate career, earning All-America honors twice. Her maiden name of Foss is listed throughout the Rams' record book, as she remains ranked among the program's all-time top five in career assists (4833). The back-to-back MW Setter of the Year and the 2024 MW Player of the Year, Walker helped Colorado State to four-straight conference titles and four-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2014. For her success, Walker was inducted into the Colorado State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Alex Hatchett currently leads the Mountain West with a .424 hitting percentage in conference play. Jordan Suan is listed second in digs (4.38), while Mia Loyd and Grace Fiaseu are listed third in assists (8.11) and blocks (1.45), respectively. As a team, Air Force leads the league in digs (16.03) and holds top-five rankings in opponent hitting (.195, fourth) and blocking (2.45, fifth). The Falcons' 25-14 first-set win over Colorado State on Oct. 16 marked the fewest points Air Force has allowed the Rams in a set during the rally scoring era (2001). That score bettered the previous low of 16 that the Falcons gave up to the Rams in 2022 during another first-set win (25-16).

Air Force will remain on the road next week for a pair of conference matches. The Falcons will visit conference newcomer Grand Canyon in Phoenix on Thursday, Oct. 30, before traveling to Albuquerque to face New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 1.
