Falcons Secure MW Win Over Utah State, 2-1

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., - Air Force women's soccer (3-5-2,1-1) picked up their first Mountain West win of the season, 2-1, over Utah State (4-5-3, 1-1-1), the 2024 MW Tournament Champions, on Thursday evening at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons collected a trio of shots on goal with the pair of goals scored by Annika Jost and Kendall Rippley, while Trishelle Lopez compiled three saves.

Air Force struck early in the 8th minute when AJ Heap sent a cross into the box that Ellie McCarron slipped through to Jost, who chipped the ball over the Aggies' keeper for the opening goal. The Falcons' backline held strong to preserve the lead through the first half.

Following halftime in the 55th minute, Rippley fired a shot that was blocked by a Utah State defender, but the rebound fell perfectly at her feet, allowing her to bury the follow-up for a 2-0 advantage.

Utah State cut into the deficit with a goal in the 65th minute, but the Falcons held on to secure the win.

The Falcons will remain at home, hosting Boise State on Sunday October 5, at 1 p.m. MT.
