Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes First at Front Range Invite

DENVER, Colo., - The Falcons won their first invitational of the season, scoring 1212 to defeat Denver (1021.5) and Wyoming (806.5) at the Front Range Invite.
The A (1:31.27) and B (1:31.91) 200 medley relay teams finished in second and third respectively to open the second day of competition.
Sophomore Joe Christ claimed the top spot of the 200 free, logging a time of 1:40.77 in a close race. At 1:42.09, Tyler Surratt touched the wall to place third.
Camden Swigart placed third in the 400 IM at 4:07.57 with Evan Witte right behind in fourth (4:08.79).
Team captain James Winterfield earned a silver finish in the 100 fly, clocking a time of 49.03. Tanner Wilson (50.36) and Keoni Li (50.37) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth place.
In the 100 breast, Falcon veteran Bridon Rosales took a second place finish at 55.01, while teammates Tanner Wilson (55.07), Mack Nuval (55.91), and Anthony Sebastian (57.42) followed behind.
Winterfield finished in second place, at 50.82, in the 100 back, with Garrett Kennedy in fifth (51.68).
Distance swimmer, Witte, touched the wall at 16:24.05 in the 1650 free to finish in third.
At Cadet Natatorium in USAFA, Colo., freshman diver Lucas Gerten collected his second collegiate win on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 357.10. Brady Nichol logged a fourth-place finish at 319.45.
The Falcons will be back in action at Cadet Natatorium on Oct. 17-18, hosting LSU, Denver, and MPSF opponent, Wyoming.
