
Falcons Rebound with 3-1 Victory over UNLV

USAF ACADEMY, Colo., - The Air Force volleyball team picked up its 10th win of the year this afternoon (Oct. 4), as it downed UNLV in four sets at the Academy's Cadet East Gym. After dropping the opening frame by 20-25 margin, the Falcons stormed back to defeat the Rebels 25-23, 25-21, 25-14. With the win, Air Force improved to 10-6 on the year and 2-2 in Mountain West play.
Air Force had another strong outing at the next, tallying 11.0 total blocks (one solo 20 assisted). Sophomore Grace Fiaseu accounted for a match-high eight blocks (all assisted), while classmate Bella Christensen added four (all assisted) and senior Alex Hatchett put back three (one solo, two assisted). Overall, eight different Falcons had a hand in a block against the Rebels.
Double-digit kills from Fiaseu (13), classmate Alysa Walker (15), and senior Ashley Bible (13) accounted for 41 of the Falcons' 58 kills on Saturday, while Hatchett nearly reached that plateau (nine) for her second-highest tally of the season. Fiaseu's .478 hitting (13-2-23) performance led all players, while Walked added 11 digs for her seventh double-double and accounted for two of the Falcons' seven aces. Fellow sophomore Mia Loyd, who also served up a pair of aces in the match, accounted for 32 digs, while freshman Sam Pope added a career-high 16 assists and senior Jordan Suan rounded out the Falcons' list of 6 stat leaders with 15 digs.
The Falcons head to Northern California next week for a pair of Mountain West contests. Air Force will open action at Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 9, before heading to San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 11.
