
Air Force Earns 3-1 Road Win Over Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif., - Backed by a season-high 10 service aces and its best attacking performance in conference play, the Air Force volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Fresno State this evening (Oct. 9) at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. The Falcons improved to 11-6 on the season (3-2 MW) with the 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22 victory over the host Bulldogs.
Headlined by a seven-ace run during the second frame, Air Force recorded its first double-digit ace performance of the season (10). Senior Jordan Suan led the Falcons with three aces – one more than the entirety of the Bulldogs' squad, while senior Ashley Bible, sophomore Grace Fiaseu, and classmate Alysa Walker all added a pair of aces and freshman Sam Pope accounted for one.
A strong night of attacking also helped the Falcons to the four-set win, as they combined for their best night of hitting in Mountain West play (.264), behind a season-high 64 kills on 174 swings, with just 18 errors. Bible and sophomore Bella Christensen led the team with 14 kills apiece – a career-high performance for the Christensen, while Fiaseu added 11 kills on .474 hitting (11-2-19) and Walker chipped in 10. Fellow sophomore Mia Loyd assisted on 32 of the team's kills, while Pope tallied a career-high 17.
Bible also shared the team lead in digs, as she, Walker and Suan all posted 19 on the night. Loyd added 11 for Air Force, as the Falcons combined for a season-high 83 total digs – a tally marked by eight different Falcons getting a defensive hand on the ball. Fiaseu rounded out the Falcons' list of statistical leaders, as she tallied four blocks, including one solo stop.
Air Force remains in Northern California until Saturday, Oct. 11, when it travels to San Jose State for a 1:00 p.m. (PT) meeting inside Spartan Gym on the SJSU campus.
