Air Force Opens Time at Phil Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, Tx., - The Falcons ended the first day of the Phil Hansel Invitational with a score of 207 to rank sixth out of eleven teams on Wednesday November 19 at CRWC Natatorium. Currently, Houston leads the competition with a score of 449.
On the 1-meter springboard, Arianna Caldwell scored 239.60 to finish in tenth, while Lulu Semakula followed in 12th with a score of 233.75.
Amber Martin, Lily Larson, Lily Bachl, and Ryan Mills teamed up for a 1:33.24 finish in the 200 freestyle relay for eighth place.
In the 500 freestyle, Sadie Hartig placed 11th and shifted into the number five spot for Air Force with a time of 4:53.18. Abby Miller (4:55.44), Brynn Bond (4:56.49), and Larson (5:03.47) followed in 14th, 15th, and 16th. In the preliminary round, Larson earned a time of 4:53.72 to place her at 7th all-time and Bond moved to 8th all-time with her 4:54.40 time.
Naomi Furman placed the highest for Air Force in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:01.57 for 12th and the third fastest time in the event in Falcon history.
The 50 freestyle saw Mills finish in 18th and take the 6th spot all-time after clocking a 23.26 swim. Kai-Min Tsuei (23.37) and Lily Bachl (23.42) also etched their names in the top ten record times.
The 400 medley relay team comprised of Addy Forbes, Furman, Martin, and Larson placed seventh at 3:40.84.
Action will resume on Thursday November 20 at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT for prelims and 5 p.m. CT/4 p.m. MT for finals.
