Streaking Falcons Take Air Force Classic With 98-85 Win Over IU Indy

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (3-4) earned a hard-fought 98-85 win over IU Indy (2-6) Sunday afternoon at the Air Force Classic MTE at Clune Arena. The Falcons, who extended their win streak to three games, went undefeated in the tournament to win the Air Force Classic.

Freshman Lucas Hobin scored 27 points and junior Caleb Walker added 21 to power the Falcons to the most points scored in the Joe Scott era and the most since 2019. Hobin went 8-for-13 from the field, making 5-of-10 from three and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Walker was 10-for-12 from the field, adding six rebounds.

Air Force shot a blistering 59 percent from the field, scoring 54 points in the paint. The Falcons withstood the number-one ranked team in terms of game tempo in IU Indy.

The game saw 19 lead changes in a back-and-forth battle. The teams traded blows to a 49-48 IU Indy lead at the half. The Jaguars knocked down eight three's in the opening half.

Air Force went down by as many as seven points in the second half before rallying back. Trailing 61-54 with 14:57 to play, the Falcons out-scored the Jags 44-24 the rest of the way.

Air Force took its final lead of the game 72-71 with 9:31 to play on a driving layup by junior Kolby Gilles. A 12-2 run had the Falcons up 82-73 with 6:26 to play. IU Indy got as close as four points late, but Air Force closed out late to win by double-digits for the second straight game.

Walker earned Air Force Classic MVP honors, while Hobin and sophomore Eli Robinson earned all-tournament honors. Robinson turned in a near triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Freshman Kam Sanders added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Ethan Greenberg scored nine points, knocking down three three's and providing three steals.

In Sunday's opening game, SIUE defeated Alabama State 83-68.

Air Force has two days off from competition before returning to action Wednesday, Nov. 26, hosting Northern Colorado. The game tips at 4 pm MT and will be broadcast on Altitude and streamed on the MW Network.
