Falcons Split Action at Veteran’s Day Invitational

RENO, Nev. -- The Air Force boxing team split a six-bout card this evening [Nov. 7] at the Veteran's Day Invitational in Reno. Facing off against West Region competition for the first time this season, a young lineup of Falcons combined for a 3-3 outing at the Circus Circus Mandalay Bay Resort,
A trio of sophomores kicked off the night with back-to-back-to-back victories. Nick Lightell and Sam Banduah both claimed decisions in 150-pound bouts, as Lightell defeated Nevada's Walker Crawford and Banduah claimed a victory over Sacramento State's Cameron McGhee in a contest that earned him the team's Boxer of the Week award. Junior Kim completed the Falcons' opening run with a 132-pound victory over Nevada's Zac Washington.
Three other members of the men's team also represented the Academy on Friday in Reno. Junior Freddy Ceciliano Jr. fell in his 125-pound bout to Barsam Bahkshian from USC, while sophomores Russell Klug and Oude Owino dropped contests with Nevada's Julian Spaulding (143 pounds) and San Jose State's Kendrich Ebujiba (190 pounds), respectively.
Air Force is back in action next week (Nov. 14), when it heads to Los Angeles for the Battle of the West.
