In the National Rankings
Air Force freshman Karson Tompkins remains ranked across three national publications, checking in as high No. 24 by the College Wrestling Report, No. 20 by FloWrestling, and No. 33 by Intermat. Teammates Tucker Owens and Brian Burburija recently dropped from the rankings in the wake of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
A Look at the Opps
Presbyterian has a Southern Conference excursion behind them, a slim one-point defeat to Campbell.
Davidson has been on the losing end of a few lopsided results against quality opponents such as North Carolina, Purdue, and Rutgers, although they were successful in their last venture against Morgan State (43-8).
Franklin & Marshall comes to Clinton all the way from Pennsylvania. The Diplomats have wrestled almost entirely in tournaments thus far, entering five brackets and just one dual. That one dual was profitable for F&M, knocking off Long Island at home by a 27-11 count. They were last seen at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, finishing 19th out of 30.
Next Up
Air Force takes a break in action for finals and the holiday break, not slated to return to the mat again until the new year. On January 9, the Falcons will compete in the competitive F&M Lehman Open, hosted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Last Time Out
Air Force wrestlers left it all on the mat at the 43rd annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, where C3C 141-pounder Carter Nogle had the highlight moment for Air Force. Nogle knocked off service academy rival No. 18 Caedyn Ricciardi of Navy, leading wire-to-wire, before sticking the Midshipman's back to the mat in the third period (6:20).
Freshman standout No. 29 Karson Tompkins picked up three bonus point wins on the day. Tompkins posted a major decision over Cal Poly's Cole Jackson, 11-0. He dropped to the consolation bracket in the ensuing match, losing to No. 21 Rune Lawrence (WVU), 4-1. Bouncing back, Tompkins picked up a fall (1:56) over Angel Cervantes (CSUB) and followed up with a technical fall (16-1) over Columbia's Adam Haselius.
