U.S.AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Chris Hedden was named the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Co-Defender of the Month for November.
He is the first Falcon to earn an HCA national monthly award since Jacques Lamoureux in October, 2008. Since the national defender of the month award is new this season, Hedden is the first Atlantic Hockey player to earn that award.
Hedden, from Kalamazoo, Mich., earned three Atlantic Hockey Defenseman of the Week honors in November and was the AHA Defenseman of the Month. He had a point in six of the nine games in November, posting 11 points (5-6-11) with 15 blocked shots and was a +4. His five goals and 11 points in the month are the most by any AHA defenseman. He tied his career high with two goals and had a season high three points in the road win at Sacred Heart. In the series sweep at Army he had four points (1-3-4). He scored two goals in the second game at Canisius, including the extra-attacker goal that forced overtime, as the Falcons rallied from a two-goal deficit for a 3-3 overtime tie.
Air Force is 7-2-1 in the last 10 games and 8-6-2 overall this season. The Falcons (5-4-1 and in fourth place in the AHA) close out the first half of the season with a home series against conference rival Robert Morris, Dec. 5-6, at Cadet Ice Arena.
